Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM review. Technical testing revealed slight colour fringing at the shortest focal lengths, which was a disappointment, but in all other respects the results were outstanding. Resolution peaked above 0.4 cycles-per-pixel and the MTF curves never once fell below the critical 0.25 cycles-per-pixel threshold.
The Sony FE 24-70mm f2.8 GM II is an outstanding lens, addressing the few shortfalls of its predecessor to become the best quality general-purpose zoom for the e-mount system to date. Unlike the Mark I, which in my tests became softer as the focal length increased, the new Mark II version remains crisp throughout its range, delivering fine
"However, here is where the Sigma shines once again, offering itself at a $1,300 price tag, whereas the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II sits at $1,750, and the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8E at $2,400. The Sigma provides a lot for significantly less than the competition." Check out the full review and let us know what you think of the 24-70 in the comments.

The 24-105 L is shown above mounted on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II. I am sure that many Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L Lens owners will also have a 24-105mm L in their kit. Indoor event photographers will *probably* select the 24-70 L while landscape/outdoor, travel and portrait photographers might prefer the 24-105 L.

A crucial advantage over the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 lens for handheld shooting is that the Sigma features an effective, four-stop optical stabiliser. A downside, however, is that at 1,020g, the Sigma is 200g heavier than the Canon.
The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM exhibits excellent bokeh in most situations, though it's best at 70mm. The lens renders out-of-focus areas smoothly, with very little aspherical distortion or coma wide open. Some high-frequency backgrounds can look a bit "busy" (seen in the sample below), but it's not a big deal.

While the new 24-70mm f/4L IS isn’t as sharp as the 2.8 when you pixel peep, in real world applications (i.e, web and common print sizes) you aren’t going to see the difference. I do think you’ll see the difference between the new 24-70mm f/4L over the 24-105mm f/4L, so if sharpness and the best IS performance are important then it’s
The EF 24-70mm f/2.8 Mark II has been my “workhorse” lens for many years. It’s fantastic, not simply for its image quality, but for all the different ways it may be used. Full frame, 24-70mm is the perfect focal length range for general purpose photography. You can shoot everything from wide angle at 24mm to standard focal lengths at 35
